Stop by Whistler Brewery from 6-10 on Fridays for some live music and tasty locally brewed beer.
Saturday 12th Dember – Whistler Olympic Plaza Skate Rink opens for winter!!
This year the Whistler has gone the extra step and revamped the Olympic Plaza. After 72hrs of snowmaking and letting some adults of the ‘kids at heart’ variety loose at it, there is now a network of slides, tunnels and play areas for kids of all ages to enjoy with their toboggans and to build snowmen in. Great place for some off-hill snow fun. Toboggans are available at various stores in town, we recommend checking out ‘The Circle – Kids’ for a beautiful, locally owned store a convienent walk from the snow park. Skating is free and skate rentals are $5 available on site.
Saturday 12th December – Santa’s Sleigh and Burn Fund Boot Drive 2-5pm
This year the jolly old man will be teaming up with Whistler Firefighers to raise money for the BC Professional Firefighters Association. The organization supports those who have suffered life-altering burns. Happening in Mountain Square this year, there will be photo op’s with Santa and his customized sleigh sitting atop a vintage Tibault fire truck.
Sunday 13th December – Shred Kelly live @ the GLC
The Fernie BC based band are bringing their unique high-energy, folk-rock sounds to the GLC. Hailing from a fellow ski town, they have been pioneering Canada’s modern folk sound, they are definitely a band to check out. If anything we just love them for this amazing ski music video:
Sunday 13th December – Fire and Ice Begins!
The weekly show, hugely popular with visitors and locals alike, returns for the 2015/16 season on Sunday the 13th December. Featuring skiers and boarders thowing down tricks through a giant hoop of fire, as well as fire twirlers and a whole host of entertainers, the Fire and Ice show is something to put on the to-do-list. A great activity for familes.
Tuesday 15th December – Tapleys Bingo
A sacred game once passed over as the past-time of the older generations has been revamped at Tapleys. With weekly prizes and hilarious bingo hosts, bingo night is definitely not what it used to be. Top tip – If you have the type of friends that are bound to get a little bit loose with the bingo dobbers after a beer of two, don’t wear white. Its not uncommon for bingo players to leave the bar in various shades of pink and green.
