Whistler Winter Activities
Whistler and Blackcomb mountains are famous for the world class skiing and snowboarding they offer and there is so much more to do in Whistler during the winter! Whistler offers a number of winter activities suitable for all ages and abilities. There are thrill seeking adventures with snowmobile tours or relaxing horse drawn sleigh rides perfect for the family.
Snowmobile
There are a number of guided
snowmobile tours available for different ages and ability
levels. This is a wonderful way to explore the
Whistler backcountry in true Canadian style. Tours range from
2 hours to 7 hours for more the adventurous. Evenings tours
are available and one of the most popular is the Fondue Snowmobile
tour. You will ride your snowmobile to a mountain cabin where
you will enjoy a traditional candle-lit fondue dinner accompanied
by fine wine.
Heliski
Heliskiing is the ultimate Whistler
winter adventure! Imagine 432,000 acres, 173
glaciers and 475 runs of untouched powder, endless terrain and
breath-taking scenery. This is one winter activity that can't
be missed! Heli skiing is available every day during the ski
season (December to April) subject to weather conditions.
Heliskiing is suitable for intermediate skiers and snowboarders and
above. Powder experience is not necessary on the 3 run
package. 6 run packages and private packages are available
for the more advanced skier or snowboarder.
Cat Skiing
Just south of Whistler Village is a
special place called Powder Mountain. When it snows
in Whistler, it snows even harder at Powder Mountain with often
double to triple the amount of snow falling. Catskking is a
great way to experience backcountry powder skiing and
snowboarding. Heated snow cats (the machines used to groom
the slopes) take you to the untracked powder runs. The
snowcats will take 12 guests, 2 guides and a
photographer.
Zip Trek
Zip trek is one of Whistler's most
popular activities which you can do year round.
Ziptreking is where you are attached by a harness to a series of
zip lines suspended across valleys and in the old growth
forest. Zip trekking will give you the ride of your
life! Ziptrek tours are suitable for the whole family and all
ability levels. Come and experience the beautiful Whistler
backcountry whilst flying though the forest!
Ski and Snowboard School
Whistler/Blackcomb Ski and Snowboard
School offers a variety of different lessons for all
abilities and ages. Whistler Kids is the children's
programs and offers fun lessons for children ages 3 and up.
Adult programs include beginner lessons and more advanced programs
such as the multi day Dave Murray Ski Camp.
Tube Park
Located on
Blackcomb Mountain at Base 2, the tube park is heaps of fun for the
whole family. Slide and whizz down the park in the
inflatable rings. The tube park is open daily in the winter
from 12 noon to 6pm. Access to the tube park is via the
Blackcomb Gondola from the Village. The tube park has a fire
pit, play area and snack station to recharge the batteries.
Sleigh Rides
This is a great way to spend time with
the family after a day on the slopes. Enjoy a
relaxing sleigh ride whilst admiring the amazing views around Green
Lake, Blackcomb Mountain or the Fairmont Chateau Whistler golf
course. Tours are available with dinner including the popular
sleigh ride and fondue dinner tour. If you are looking to

Snowshoe
Snowshoes
make walking in the snow easy! Snowshoeing is
suitable for every ability level and age. If you can walk,
you can snowshoe. Guided tours are available and will take
you to some incredible areas including the Callaghan Valley.
You can also rent snowshoes in a number of stores in Whistler
Village and explore the trails around Lost Lake or in the Whistler
Olympic Park.
Cross Country Skiing
As host to the 2010 Winter
Olympic Games, Whistler has been left the legacy of some of the
best cross country ski trails in the World! The
Whistler Olympic Park in the Callaghan Valley, just south of
Whistler Village offers over 90 kms of recreational cross-country
ski trails. The trails are suitable for both classic and
skate skiing, ranging from beginner to expert levels. Closer
to the Village, Lost Lake offers 32kms of trails with amazing views
of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. Both locations offer
night skiing and rentals.
Bungee Jumping
Whistler Bungee is located just 15
minute south of the Village. Feel the exhilaration
of jumping from a 160ft bridge over the glacial fed Cheakamus
River. The scenery and views are amazing and you will have a
day to remember.
Dog Sledding
To
experience a true Canadian winter, you have to experience a dog
sledding tour. Explore the winter wonderland and old
growth forest as you are pulled in the sled by a team of Alaskan
Huskies. This is a fun winter activity for the whole
family. Some tours include gourmet dining for an adventure
not to be forgotten.
Helicopter Tours
Discover the full expanse
of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains and the vistas
beyond with a helicopter sightseeing tour. Glacier
landings can be added to any helicopter tour. This is a unique
