Summer Activities
Summer in Whistler offers an amazing choice of activities suitable for all ages and interests. You can spend a relaxing summer day sightseeing from the top of Whistler Mountain or play a round of golf on one of Whistler's world class golf courses. Whatever your interests, there is a summer activity for everyone!
Golf
Whistler is home to three World class golf
courses - The Fairmont Chateau Whistler golf course,
Nicklaus North and the Whistler Golf Club. Each course offers
a unique experience, with amazing mountain views in a spectacular
setting. A short 25 minute drive north of Whistler in
Pemberton you will find the award winning Big Sky Golf and Country
Club and the best value golfing in the corridor at the Meadows at
Pemberton.
Peak to Peak Gondola and Sightseeing
The Peak to Peak
Gondola is one summer activity you must do.
The gondola was constructed in 2008 and spans the distance
between Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. The new world
record-breaking gondola offers a breathtaking 4.4 km journey where
you can view Whistler Blackcomb's alpine environment, its
surrounding peaks, changing seasons and wildlife. This is a
great place to spot a bear from a distance. The Peak to Peak
Gondola allows access to 50+ kilometres of hiking trails spread
over 19 trails, including six new options on Blackcomb
Mountain. You can access the Peak to Peak Gondola via the
Whistler Village Gondola from the base of the mountain.
Hiking
Hiking options are endless in the Whistler
area. The Whistler Gondola and Peak to Peak gondola
allow access to over 50kms of trails including the famous Musical
Bumps and Singing Pass trail. Other hikes in the area include
Rainbow Mountain, Wedge Mountain, Brandywine Meadows, Cheakamus
Lake and Garibaldi Lake. North of Pemberton on the Duffey
Lake Road is the spectacular Joffre Lake hike which accesses three
beautiful mountain lakes. Hikes in the area range from easy
to advance.
Downhill Mountain Biking
Whistler has grown
quickly to become a mountain biking
Mecca. The Whistler Mountain Biking Park
offers a network of incredible trails for the beginner to the
extreme downhill mountain biker. It also features jump
parks, three skills centres and a biker cross. Bike and gear
rentals are available in Whistler Village. Access to the park
is via the Fitzsimmons chairlift at the base of Whistler
Mountain. Trails are also accessed from the Garbanzo chair
lift.
Cross Country Mountain Biking
Whistler has an amazing network of cross
country mountain bike trails. From epic single track
trails such as the famous Comfortably Numb trails to easy going
trails perfect for the beginner around the Lost Lake trails.
Cross country mountain bike rentals and maps are available in
Whistler Village. Guided tours are also available.
Ziptrek
Fly through valleys and old growth forest
on a series of zip lines. Zip trekking is one of
Whistler's most popular summer activities. You are safely
harnessed onto the zip lines, and these guided tour will leave you
feeling exhilarated. Zip trekking is a great family activity
and is suitable for all ages and abilities. You will also
learn about Whistler's ecology and wildlife as you zoom from
platform to platform
Canoeing
Whistler is home to a number of beautiful
mountain lakes, all of which are great to canoe in.
A popular canoe tour is on the River of Golden Dreams. The
River of Golden Dreams links Alta Lake and Green Lake. This
is an easy river to navigate and a perfect route for your family
adventure. River of Golden Dreams tours are available and
canoes are available to rent for self guided tours. Canoeing
is a wonderful Canadian summer activity and great way to experience
the majestic mountain views and see Whistler's wildlife.
ATV's
All
Terrain Vehicles (ATV's) are a great way to explore Whistler's
beautiful backcountry. Join a guided tour and rip
along the trails to see some amazing views, scenery and
wildlife. ATVing is a fun summer activity for groups and
families. Tours go directly from Whistler Village and are
available for all ability levels from beginner to
advanced.
Horseback Riding
A
great way to explore the Whistler area is on
horseback. Ride Western styleandview the wild BC
rivers surrounded by majestic Coast Range mountain peaks.
Tours are available north of Whistler in Pemberton and also closer
to the Village around Green Lake. There are tours suitable
for all experience levels and great fun for the entire
family.
Bungee Jumping
If you want a Whistler summer adventure to
remember, try Bungee Jumping! Experience bungee
jumping in the beautiful wilderness of the Whistler backcountry.
Feel the exhilaration of jumping from a 160ft (53 meter) bridge
spanning 300 ft over the glacial fed Cheakamus River.

Whitewater Rafting
Whitewater rafting adventures is a must do
on your Whistler summer activity list. The Cheakamus
River located just south of Whistler Village is the perfect choice
for first timers or a family adventure. The Green
River just north of Whistler Village provides fun, splashy
and bouncy rapids, perfect for everyone. For the thrill
seekers, take a rafting tour to the Elaho and Squamish River south
of Whistler. Tours include all the gear and depart daily from
Whistler Village throughout the summer months.
Flightseeing
Get a bird's eye view of Whistler and the
surrounding mountains by taking a spectacular float plane or
helicopter tour. The float planes depart from Green
Lake and the helicopters from the Whistler helipad, both of which
are just north of Whistler Village. This is a memorable
experience and a wonderful way to see the area's mountain ranges,
glaciers, valleys, rivers and lakes. All tours have the
option of a glacier landing or customize your tour to include
hiking or alpine fishing!
Fishing
Whistler actually began as a summer resort
with a fishing lodge built at what now is Rainbow
Park. Fishing in the area is amazing whether you
prefer fishing for trout in the many lakes or fly fishing on one of
the areas rivers. There a number of professional guides
available who specialise in fly fishing, spin fishing, salmon
fishing, sturgeon fishing, trolling, river fishing and ice
fishing! No experience is necessary and fishing is a great
summer activities for kids and the family.
