Friday, July 6 - 8:30PM
Join us Friday night as Saskatoon based band Wide Mouth Mason take the stage at the Plaza. After experiencing world wide success in the early 90's this rock-blues inspired band is back with their newest album "No Bad Days," their first release since 2005. Recognized throughout the music industry they have opened for mega bands such as AC/DC, ZZ Top and the Rolling Stones. In a career that has spanned over 17 years Wide Mouth Mason has managed to achieve a success and longevity most bands dream of. Whistler is proud to present Wide Mouth Mason this Friday at 8:30 in Whistler's beautiful Olympic Plaza.
Saturday, July 7 - 8:30PM
World music group Pacifica kick things off Saturday night at the Olympic Plaza. This diverse band is composed of three members each with their own unique musical background. Together they create music that is influenced by every genre refusing to be boxed in by one particular sound. One of the most interesting aspects of the band is the abilities of multilingual lead singer Silvana Kane. With the gift to sing in either English, Spanish or French this singer is able to flow through a multitude of languages and styles. Plucking musical inspirations from all over the world Pacifica has a beautiful laid back sound and approach to music. Don't miss the chance to see this Vancouver based band perform this Saturday night at 8:30 in the Olympic Plaza.
Saturday, July 7 - 9:15PM
Sultry folk singer Jill Barber co-headlines Saturday night's concert event. Originally born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia Jill Barber has exchanged one coast for another now calling Vancouver home. She achieved both critical and commercial success with her 2008 album "Chances," in which she was nominated for best new artist of the year at the 2008 Juno's. Now back with a new album entitled "Mischievous Moon" with this album Barber is backed by a full orchestra leaving us with a sensational blast from the past. This magnificent cabaret style record takes us back to the early days when music clubs and cabarets were all the rage. Only 31 years old Barber's has already managed to release 4 albums and with no end in sight she is destined to be a driving force on the Canadian music scene for years to come. Join us this Saturday night as she takes the stage at 9:15 to belt out her classical style hits.
