Snowing In Whistler
Posted: Friday, February 17, 2012

It's finally snowing in Whistler! After a long week of sunshine, Whistler is at last receiving the long awaited snow that everyone has been waiting for.
There's always a buzz around town when the snow starts dumping. People start re-arranging their days and nights to get maximum time in the powder. There's talk of shift-swapping between workmates... and plans are being concocted to get to the best powder stash quickly. It's truly a great vibe.
It seems this season the snow always starts to fall on a Friday afternoon... just in time for the weekend. This is great news for out of towners and Vancouverites in particular. Get your room booked and pack the car... it's set to be a banging weekend in Whistler.
Great Seasonal Snowfall
Whistler is reputed for the best snowfall when compared to surrounding mountains and this year is no exception. Whistler has received the most snow out of any other North American mountain.
This year so far, Whistler has received over 729 cm of total cumulative snowfall, with a snow base of 227 cm.
Current Forecast
The current forecast calls for snow increasing this evening, expected to be heavy at times, especially after midnight. An additional 10-15 cm of snow is expected overnight.
There will be periods of snow Saturday morning, then tapering off to snow flurries Saturday afternoon, when the temperature will be dropping.
Flurries taper off Saturday night with partial clearing and mainly dry weather on Sunday. Conditions are to remain mostly dry through Monday with increasing chance of snow by Tuesday next week.
