Thanksgiving Weekend in Whistler

Do you have plans for Thanksgiving yet? If not head up to Whistler for a long weekend, as there is so much to do.  Canadian Thanksgiving falls on Monday October 10^th this year.

The one thing Whistler is famous for on Thanksgiving Weekend is the annual Turkey Sale.  No, don't worry there are no turkeys dead or alive, but there is a huge selection of skis, snowboard, winter equipment and winter clothing on sale with mega discounts.  The legendary Turkey Sale happens at the Blackcomb Daylodge at the base of Blackcomb Mountain.  The sale starts on Friday October 8^th at 12 noon for locals, season pass holders and edge card holders and ends on Monday October 10^th at 5pm.  Stock up on all your winter gear.  You will find top name brands in ski and snowboard equipment for both adults and children. 

Outside the Blackcomb Day Lodge will be a tent and here you will find the annual  SWAP (Sale With Awesome Prices).  SWAP is hosted by the Whistler Mountain Ski Club and this is THE place to purchase quality pre-owned equipment for both kids and adults.  You can also sell your used equipment at SWAP. The whole of Whistler Village gets excited by "Turkey Sale Weekend" and you will find great sales at other retail locations throughout Whistler Village.  Many of the restaurants will also be offering special menus and deals for the weekend.

Outside the Turkey Sale, make sure you visit the last Whistler Farmers Market for the year on Sunday.  This is a great time to purchase fresh, local, organic produce as well as other items for your Thanksgiving Dinner.  Don't forget to buy your fresh home baked pumpkin pie for dessert.

Once you have fulfilled your quota of "retail therapy" make sure you experience some of the great activities Whistler has to offer.  This is the last weekend to ride the epic Whistler Mountain Bike Park.  Downhill mountain biking is hugely popular in Whistler and the bike park offers trails for all ability levels.  Bike rental equipment and gear is available in a number of stores in Whistler Village if you fancy trying out this for the weekend.

Thanksgiving Weekend is also the last time you can get a round of golf in at one of the incredible Whistler courses for the season.  The Fairmont Chateau Whistler golf course, Nicklaus North and the Whistler Golf Club all have great rates available for the weekend.
