Whistler Presents Concert Series for Thanksgiving

Now there is another great reason to visit Whistler over the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend. Whistler Presents will be hosting yet another amazing concert series at the new Whistler Olympic Plaza. The Whistler Olympic plaza was the site of the medal ceremonies for the Winter 2010 Olympic Games. The area was transformed this year into a permanent venue that can accommodate audiences of up to 5,000. There is an outdoor stage, lawn, amazing playground and art celebrating the Olympic Games.
Over the Thanksgiving Weekend, children's entertainers Bobs and Lola will be performing at the Whistler Olympic Plaza on both the Saturday and Sunday at 11am. Bobs and LoLoare dedicated to connecting children to the natural world with music, movement and make-believe. Sharing musical stories that engage, inspire and educate, they teach kids to care about themselves, their neighbours and the planet. This is a ticketed event and it is recommended to purchase in advance online. Tickets are $10 per child and adults are free when accompanying children. The gates will be opening at 10:30 AM. This performance is recommended for children aged 2 to 10 years. This is an outdoor venue, so remember to dress warmly!
On the Saturday afternoon the celebrations will continue with two great free performances for the adults. Animal Nation hit the stage at 3pm, followed by the Wassabi Collective. Animal Nation are home-grown in Whistler and are a Hip hop / Indie / Alternative band. Wassabi Collective are a spicy five-piece from the town of Nelson, B.C. The band's sound fuses everything from pop, rock, hip hop, roots reggae, funk, jazz and everything in between. Don't miss these two great free performances.
On the Sunday Bob and Lolo will be entertaining the children again at 11am. In the afternoon there will be free performances by the Hellbound Hepcats at 3 PM, followed by Free Five Alarm Funk at 4.15pm. Montreal-based trio Hellbound Hepcats are known for their hip-shaking rhythm that's all their own. Five Alarm Funk are Whistler's favourite party band. These 10 musicians are a must-see! They perform intricate and airtight arrangements with delirious dance moves that will be sure to warm you up.
Thanksgiving Weekend in Whistler is going to be action packed! Shop 'till you drop at the legendary Whistler/Blackcomb Turkey Sale, hit all the other sales in the Village, visit the last Farmers Market of the season and get to see some amazing live music and performances at the Whistler Olympic Plaza.
