Bungee Jumping in Whistler
Posted: Monday, October 31, 2011
It is easy to get an adrenaline rush in Whistler. Maybe it is from learning to snowboard or skiing Excitation for the very first time. But if you are looking for the ultimate adrenaline rush this winter then you have to experience a bungee jump with Whistler Bungee.
Whistler Bungee is located about a 15 minute drive south of Whistler Village on a bridge over the beautiful Cheakamus River. The scenery is breathtaking and the beautiful location just adds to the fun and excitement of the bungee jump. The Cheakamus River is surrounded by old growth trees and this great spot provided the perfect winter wonderland.
First time bungee jumpers have many questions. One of the first questions is most often "is it safe?" Yes it's very safe and Whistler Bungee has a perfect safety record. All equipment used has been specifically designed and engineered for bungee jumping. The cords are designed to stretch 4 times their original length for an extremely soft ride. Different harnesses are used depending on the type of jump you are going to do. The harnesses include chest, waist and ankle harnesses.
The types of jumps include chest, ankle, tandem, wheelchair and pull ups. The chest/waist jump provides both superior comfort and safety at the same time. You will be kept in an upright position throughout the rebounds which allows you to see more of the river below. The ankle harnesses is the 'traditional' form of bungee jumping. This gives the ultimate adrenalin rush as you fall head first. It is also possible to do a tandem jump if your combined weight is not more than 350lbs. Tandem jumps are popular with couples and newlyweds! Bungee jumping is something that almost anybody can do, including those with disabilities. Rick Hansen did a bungee jump in his wheel chair with Whistler bungee.
At the bungee jumping site there will be a professional photographer available who will take pictures of your jump. You are also welcome to bring cameras and video equipment to take your own photos and video footage. You can also jump with a camera if you like!
