Whistler Presents Kuba Oms and Evening Film Screening

As part of the Whistler Presents free concert
series, held in the Whistler Olympic Plaza, Kuba Oms will be
performing on Friday evening. Starting at
6:30 p.m. come and see the electro funk tunes of
this Victoria native.
As part of the celebrations for tomorrows GranFondo there will be an evening film screening of a classic, charming film called Breaking Away, at 7:30 p.m. This Academy Award winner from 1979 is a comedy about four friends who come to terms with life after high school. When top-notch cyclist Dave (Dennis Christopher) learns that the world's bicycling champions are always Italian, he attempts to turn himself into an Italian, driving his parents (Barbara Barrie, Paul Dooley) crazy. Everything changes after he meets the Italian racing team-an encounter that ultimately leads him and his friends (Dennis Quaid, Daniel Stern, Jackie Earle Haley) to challenge the local college boys in the town's annual bike race.
Bring a blanket and sweater and settle down to watch this great movie as the sun goes behind Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.
