Whistler continues summer 2011 celebrations with a
weekend to honour the official opening of the Olympic
Plaza featuring local musicians and entertainers as part
of the Whistler Presents summer program.
So make it a weekend by attending the Saturday night event, then picnicking on Sunday... with entertainment from the new stage of the Olympic Plaza in Whistler!
Saturday August 27 Official Olympic Plaza Opening
Sam Roberts Band along with Kathleen Edwards and host Jiang Homeshi are featured performers at the official opening of the Olympic Plaza in Whistler on Saturday August 27.
Sunday August 28 Features a Roll & Roll Picnic

The celebrations continue with a Rock & Roll picnic the next
day Sunday August 28 in the afternoon. Whistler's own The
Hairfarmers lead the afternoon with you. Bring your picnic
and your own instruments - from dj sets and drums to maracas and
tambourines - so that you can participate and play along on the
lawn with local musical styling's of the Hairfarmers!
The afternoon's entertainment on the Pavilion stage will include
live music with long-time Whistler favourites, She Stole My
Beer. The top five finalists from Mountain FM's
Whistler Anthem Project, Chad Oliver, Rachel Thom, Glenn
Mishaw, Jeremy Thom and Adam Leggett will perform their winning
submissions along with a few other tunes that highlight the diverse
musical talent that calls Whistler home.
Rick Lewis - a Whistler Street Entertainment
favourite - will perform his world-famous juggling and unicycle act
on the lawn, entertaining the crowds between music sets.
The Picnic at the Plaza showcases Whistler Olympic Plaza's use as
a green-space gathering place where locals and visitors alike can
enjoy the various features around the lawn.
