Adara Insider: Spring is in the Air!
Posted: Thursday, April 24, 2014
Spring has arrived in Whistler and brings with it new opportunities. Opportunities for new adventures and memories to be made! It's a time when the possibilities are endless and the term "seasonal" ceases to exist. Whether you're a golfer, skier, biker or hiker; this is the time of year when there is truly something here for everyone. And with longer Spring days, the best part is there is more time in the day to indulge in the activities you love most!
Spring skiing/snowboarding is an experience in itself. Goggle tans, skiing in shorts and sunny days become the norm. Best of all, the 2013/14 Winter Season has now been extended and Blackcomb Mountain is now open for skiing until May 26th. Make sure you check the Whistler Blackcomb website for lift details and hours of operation before you hit the mountain as they can be weather and volume dependant.
Once the mountain closes for skiing, there may be reason for some post-powder blues, but don't be too upset, Mountain Biking is the perfect remedy! The Whistler Mountain Bike Park opens on May 16th.
Featuring over 4,926 vertical feet of lift-serviced, adrenalin-fuelled downhill trails that range from beginner to expert, all you need to choose is how gnarly you'd like your descent to be and off you go! For those beginners, try the "Easy does it" trail first. With wider runs and smooth corners, it's a trail that makes mountain biking fun for everyone. Early season adult prices start from $55 for 1 day and then increases to $63 during the regular season (June 14 - September 1) so try to take advantage of the early savings and smaller crowds.
Think of any adventure sport and chances are that it's possible in Whistler. Bungee jumping, skydiving, ATV tours…the opportunity is here waiting for you. Most activities kick off early to mid May and if you get in early enough, you can take advantage of some great shoulder season deals. Take a look at The Adventure Group Whistler's activities and pricing for further information.
It just wouldn't be Spring in Whistler without golf. It's time to dust off the clubs and hit the freshly manicured fairways. Whistler isn't Canada's number #1 Golf Resort for no reason. With over 4 world-class courses to choose from, visitors and locals alike are spoilt for choice. Golf Whistler is currently offering a 2014 Spring/Fall Passport for $249 for British Columbian and Washington State residents which allows you to play one round of golf at all four Whistler Championship Golf Courses. It's a great opportunity to experience the best courses in one visit and with a saving of over 40%, it's a fantastic deal as well!
