World Ski and Snowboard Festival: Preview of Events

The World Ski and Snowboard Festival, one of Whistler's iconic events returns this Spring with an action-packed lineup. Celebrating mountain culture, events this year include sports competitions, concerts, fashion shows, photography, art exhibitions, film screenings and after parties led by world acclaimed DJ's.
To help you plan your itinerary, below is a snapshot of the events on offer throughout the festival. With the festival only weeks away, now is the time to purchase your tickets and secure your accommodation at the Adara Hotel.
The Shred Show: April 12- 14 (Blackcomb Nintendo Terrain Park & Skiers Plaza Whistler Village)
Big Air, Slopestyle and Boarderstyle competitions take centre stage featuring some of the World's best snowboarders and drawing in big crowds and big cash prizes. Confirmed athletes for the event include Ulrik Badertscher, Maxence Parrot and Sebastien Toutant.
World Skiing Invitational: April 18 - 20 (Blackcomb Nintendo Terrain Park & Skiers Plaza Whistler Village)
Including Slopestyle and Big Air competitions, the World Skiing Invitational will thrive off the success of the debut slopestyle skiing event at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Games. Confirmed key draw cards include Alex Schlopy, Nick Goepper and Gus Kenworthy. Taking place in the Blackcomb terrain park, some park features will be open for use by the public with the exception of the days when the Slopestyle event is on.
Demo Park: April 12-13 and April 19-20 (Outside Roundhouse lodge on Whistler Mountain)
Try before you buy! A Demo Park will be set up outside the Roudhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain for those who want to test out the latest in ski and snowboard technology. Tons of brands will be promoting their newest gear including Bataleon, CAPiTA, Flow, Flux, Gnu. K2, Lib Tech, Never Summer, Ride, Rossignol, Salomon, Scott and UNION.
State of the Art: Gallery Open 12pm - 6pm daily and 8pm - late on gala ticketed nights (Grand Foyer of the Whistler Conference Centre)
A gallery where the only rule for artists is that there are no rules. Subcultures are celebrated in a variety of thought-provoking mediums. Take a stroll through the Conference Centre Grand Foyer, make conversation with some of the best in creative industries and maybe take home a piece with you.
Whistler Dogfest: April 20 (Village Common)
One of the Adara`s favourite events on the lineup, the dogfest includes a Dog Parade with pups donning their best outfits, exhibitions, agility demonstrations and competitions. Don`t forget that the Adara Hotel is dog-friendly, so bring your dog with you and make them a star of the Whistler Ski and Snowboards Fest!
Outdoor Concert Series: Daily 2:30pm - 5:30pm (Skiers Plaza)
A 10-day program of free music concerts with a variety of award-winning acts, outdoor concerts will take place on the Main Stage located in Skier`s plaza each afternoon of the festival. Acts include Shapeshifter, Cut Chemist, the Hairfarmers and the Sociables.
Olympus 72hr. Filmmaker Showdown Encore: April 18 (Whistler Conference Centre)
Due to popularity, show organisers have had to add a second encore night as the first is already sold out! In this premier event of the festival, filmmakers are asked to produce a 3-5 minute short film within 100km radius of Whistler over 72 hours. One winner will be chosen by a panel of judges on the first night. During the encore, the audience will get the chance to choose the peoples choice!
Nightclubs and After-parties
Each night of the festival, local nightclubs will be competing to create the most memorable and exhilarating nights for partons. Keep an eye on the World Ski and Snowboard festival Parties and Nightlife page for up to date information.
