Adara Insider: Best of Whistler
Posted: Friday, December 27, 2013
This week's edition of the Whistler Pique News Magazine featured the Best of Whistler as voted by our local community. Although the winners are all very worthy, we've got a few favourites we feel should be added so we've come up with the Adara's very own Best of Whistler! These are 10 categories with our staffs' personal picks:
Best Place to Hang Out in a Blizzard
Our Lobby at 3 PM
When the wind is howling and the snow is coming down in the valley, we can't think of a better place to hang out than in our comfortable two-story rundlestone lobby. Cozy up beside the fireplace while you enjoy a hot cup of complimentary coffee or tea and freshly baked cookies. Chat with our friendly front desk staff and listen to their stories about living in Canada's most visited ski resort town.
Best Rainy Day Activity
Rock Climbing at the Core
If it's rainy outside and you still want to do something active, rock climbing at The Core is really fun for all ages and skill levels. You'll hardly have to walk outside since it's located near the conference centre just steps from the hotel. If you don't want to get wet, we're more than happy to lend you an umbrella which are available at the front desk.
Best Place to Take a Visitor
The Crystal Hut for a Waffle
Yes of course the typical answers like the Mountain and Peak to Peak gondola are great places to take a visitor. However, one of the most unique places you can take them is to the Crystal Hut on Blackcomb mountain for an out-of-this-world waffle experience. It's hard to say what's better... the waffles or the view?
Best Whistler Trend
As you walk along the Village Stroll you'll soon learn how easy it is to spot a Whistler local... Just look for the signature toque on the head. One of the longest running Whistler Trends is wearing a toque all year long - inside, outside, at the lakes, on the mountains, in the restaurants, at the clubs... it doesn't really matter because everybody's doing it!
Best Free Thing to Do
Fire and Ice Show
If there's on thing you do while you're in town, it should definitely be to go watch the Fire and Ice Show. It's free at the Skier's Plaza (at the base of the Whistler gondola) every Sunday evening at 6:30 PM during the winter. Fire spinners will perform while Whistler's best skiers and snowboarders hit a big air jump through a blazing ring of fire. If you're looking for something to do afterwards, check out the party at the GLC above the Guest Relations building.
Best Tip for Saving Money
One expense that really adds up on any vacation is food. Eating out can get really expensive, especially when you do it three times a day. To solve this, you should book a room that has a kitchen so you can cook in your suite. Our One Bedroom Premium and Two Bedroom Loft suites have full kitchens for all your cooking needs. All of our suites are equipped with convenience centres as well that include microwaves and refrigerators that can help you save.
Best Photo Op
Top of 7th Heaven
With breathtaking views 360 degrees around you, this is our favourite spot for a photo op. You can choose from a variety of angles to capture all the different mountains. Make sure to pose with the Inuukshuk just off to the right of the chairlift for an extra special picture. Don't miss out on this perfect photo opportunity... Afterall, there's a reason it's called 7th Heaven.
Every bar and club in Whistler will be a good time... especially if you stick to our Adara Insider: Whistler's Hottest Club Nights guide. However, our staffs' favourite bar/club to go to is Buffalo Bills. Not only is it the closest one to the Adara Hotel (literally attached), but all of our guests also get complimentary cover before 10 PM Check it out especially on Wednesday nights for a really fun time!
Best Adventure Tour
There are so many choices when looking for an adventure tour group for your vacation in Whistler. However, our favourite is definitely Blackcomb Snowmobile in the Hilton Whistler Resort, located just beside our hotel. They offer a variety of tours including snowmobiling, dogsledding, and snowshoeing that run daily.
Best Overnight Accommodation
The Adara Hotel
This one was an easy choice for us... we can't deny that we love the Adara Hotel and think it's the best place to stay in Whistler! We offer a unique experience unlike anywhere else with personal touches that will make your vacation unforgettable. And if you didn't know already, we were voted Canada's Best Ski Boutique Hotel at this year's World Ski Awards - that means something!
So that's it for our second edition of the Adara Insider - hope you enjoyed. Stay tuned for the next one and don't forget to leave a comment at the bottom and share with your friends!
