Get Ready for Opening Day!
Posted: Tuesday, November 12, 2013
Whistler Blackcomb has officially announced that the mountain is opening nearly two weeks early on Saturday, November 16th and we couldn't be more excited! To help you prepare, we've put together a list of things to do before opening day:
Stretch and Condition
Fill your Playlist
If you love listening to music while you cruise down the hill then be sure to download some great tunes and make a playlist before you head out! We found a list of ski movie music that might be worth checking out for some ideas.
Get your Gear Ready
There's nothing worse than getting to the top of the mountain and realizing that your bindings are broken or your ski boots don't fit. Get all your gear together, inspect it, and tighten all the loose screws before heading up. It's also a good idea to get your skis or snowboard tuned so that you'll glide smoothly down the mountain.
When it comes to skiing and snowboarding, there's a lot of gear you'll need to keep warm, dry, and safe. Make sure you have everything ready the night before including warm under layers, new socks, waterproof outerwear, gloves, neck protection, googles, and a hat or helmet. You may also want to take a lock if you decide to leave your equipment outside.
Book Rentals or Lessons
If you need equipment for opening day it's a good idea to book your rentals as soon as possible. Summit Sport has a great early booking offer where you can receive up to 50% off! You may also want a refresher lesson with an experienced Whistler guide which you can book on Whistler Blackcomb's website.
Pray for Snow!
Wouldn't it be amazing if your first runs of the season were in knee-deep powder? If we all put our minds together perhaps we can make it happen!
