Peak 2 Peak Gondola
Posted: Tuesday, June 19, 2012
One of Whistler's most popular tourist attractions the Peak 2 Peak Gondola shuttles visitors between Whistler & Blackcomb Mountain.
Before the construction of the Peak 2 Peak Gondola visiting both mountains in one day was near impossible. By the time you reached one mountain toured around and came back down, then had to make your way through the village to the other mountain and do it all over again the day would most certainly be winding down.
But thanks the construction of the Peak 2 Peak in 2008 visitors can now visit both mountains in one day with little inconvenience.
Stretching between the Rendezvous on Blackcomb to the Roundhouse Lodge on Whistler Mountain, the Peak 2 Peak travels a distance of 4.4 Kilometers, 443 meters above the valley floor and takes about 11 minutes to cross. Upon finishing completion the Peak 2 Peak became the highest and longest gondola of its kind in the world, breaking the record for the longest continuous lift system.
For the ultimate sightseer make sure to try and catch one of the custom made gondolas with all glass floors. Not only do you get the spectacular 360-degree views that every gondola gets but you also get a birds-eye view as you cross the valley below.
This really is the best place in Whistler to catch a view of not only the two mountains but also the surrounding valley floor including an overlook of Whistler Village. It's no wonder the Peak 2 Peak has become one of Whistler's most popular attractions, and should be included on every guests' must see list.
Prices for the Peak 2 Peak are listed below. These prices include chair or gondola ride up to the Peak 2 Peak station:
Adult 19-64: $45.95 | Youth 13-18: $38.95 | Senior 65+: $38.95 | Child 7-12: $21.95
