5 Free Whistler Holiday Activities for the Family

If you are a planning a vacation to Whistler over the Holidays, you can be sure that the whole family will be entertained. There is world class skiing, snowboarding, a tube park, zip trekking, dog sledding and lots of other activities. There are also a number of great free activities and events happening over the Holidays which the entire family will enjoy.
1. Free Outdoor Ice Skating at the Whistler Olympic Plaza
The Whistler Olympic Plaza is located in the Village North area, just across from the Marketplace. This winter the plaza will be transformed in to an outdoor ice skating rink. The rink will be open daily from mid December from 11am to 9pm. Please note the rink is subject to be closed for special events. Skate rentals are available for $5 from 11am to 2pm and 6pm to 9 pm. The entire family will love skating outdoors in this great location in Whistler Village!
2. Whistler Holiday Experience
The Whistler Holiday Experience offers a free indoor entertainment paradise for children! You can find bouncy castles, mini putt courses, table games, arts and crafts and video games. The Whistler Holiday Experience is located in the Whistler Conference Centre. It is open daily from 10am to 6pm from December 16 to January 2 (closed December 25 and 31). Santa Claus will be making a special appearance on December 17 and 18 from 1pm to 5pm.
3. Whistler Fire and Ice Show
The Fire and Ice Show takes place at the Skiers Plaza at the base of Whistler Mountain every Sunday evening during the winter. This free show welcomes guests to Whistler in an incredible display featuring pro skiers and snowboarders jumping through a burning ring of fire. The show starts at 6.30pm. Please note there will be no show on Christmas Day but there will be one on December 26.
4. Lantern Making Workshop
As part of the Whistler Arts Council second annual Whistler Festival of Lights Exhibition, there will be a free Lantern Making Workshop on December 21, 22, 28 and 29. The workshops take place at the Whistler Conference Centre from 2 PM - 5 PM. For more information visit the Whistler Arts Council.
5. Winter Gathering at Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre
The Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre will be presenting a special day of First Nations activities including artist demonstrations, craft workshops, storytelling, drum circles, winter barbecue and other fun activities. The Winter Gathering is open from 10am to 5pm. Entry is by donation. Admission to the centre is by donation every Tuesday.
