Posted: Thursday, November 03, 2011
We are pleased to announce that the Adara Hotel has received a rating of 4 Green Keys from the Green Key Eco Rating Program.
The Green Key Eco-Rating Program is a graduated rating system designed to recognize hotels, motels and resorts that are committed to improving their environmental and fiscal performance.
Hotels can receive between 1 and 5 Green Keys. These are based on the results of a comprehensive environmental self-assessment. Hoteliers are provided with guidance on how to "unlock" opportunities to reduce environmental impacts and operating costs through reduced utility consumption, employee training, and supply chain management.
The program assesses the 5 main operational areas in a hotel which are: Corporate Environmental Management, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage Operations, Conference & Meeting Facilities and Engineering.
There are nine areas of sustainable practices that must be followed:
- Energy conservation
- Water conservation
- Solid waste management
- Hazardous waste management
- Indoor air quality
- Community outreach
- Building infrastructure
- Land use
- Environmental management
An on site inspection is carried out to confirm the rating. The Adara Hotel has been awarded a FOUR key rating and is committed to continually improving sustainable practices. The hotel is rated annually by Green Key.
