In the words of Homer Simpson, “Mmmmm Beer.”
In just a few short weeks, the Whistler Village Beer Festival will be taking over the town. This year marks the 5th anniversary of celebrating the most beloved beverage of them all in the mountains. From yoga to beer pairing dinners, there is no shortage of brew related activities. At the main event, the very best craft beers and ciders that BC has to offer produced by 60 different breweries will be showcased. Scrap showcased, they are to be enjoyed by the revellers! If beer is something you hold dear, you’re going to want to be at the Whistler Village Beer Festival.
The festival takes place from September 13th until September 17th all over the village. However, the main event runs at the Olympic Plaza on September 16th and 17th from 12-5pm each day. The main event is where breweries will provide samples of their favourite beers and ciders. Some of the other events that will be running are:
Beer Pairing Dinner presented by Whistler Brewing Co.
Date: September 14th
Location: Alta Bistro
Whistler Comedy Kegger
Date: September 17th
Location: Buffalo Bills
There are breweries, distillers, food vendors and exhibitors from all over that come to take part in the festival. That being said, the brews that you will be enjoying are primarily made in BC, with a few special ones hailing from out of province.
Beer. That’s what! But really, there are a number of events all built around beer and everything that it entails. Throw a few axes over some pints or watch crafters battle over producing the best sour. The biggest party is the main event which includes over 120 beers to sample, live music, and food trucks. Here, the top three breweries as decided by redeemed tokens plus a people’s choice selection will win draught contracts with venues in Whistler. It’s a win/win for everyone really.
The Whistler Village Beer Festival is put on by Gibbons, a local company that has been around since 1979. They have a passion for beer that they wanted to share with the world and have done just that with the creation of this festival. No matter what part of the festival you attend, you’re sure to be hoppy!
Beer + food + music + the mountains. What’s not to love? You won’t want to miss this annual festival. If you are coming from Vancouver or Squamish, there will be a shuttle service, running both Saturday and Sunday for the Main Event. And as for accommodation, stay at the Adara Hotel, where everyday feels like a Saturday.
