Doctors benefit from WinterPRIDE Medical Education Program

Whistler, BC - Whistler's 2007 WinterPRIDE event (formerly known as Gay Ski Week) will for the first time include an education program for medical professionals.

The Continuing Medical Education (CME) program will run over three days and focus on issues that affect the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) communities. The program fits into WinterPRIDE's mandate of offering a broad range of activities beyond traditional winter sports events.

"WinterPRIDE attracts a wide range of professionals from around the world, including those from the medical community, and we really wanted to put on a program that can be both educational and enjoyable," said Dean Nelson, Creative Director of WinterPRIDE. "It's a great opportunity for medical professionals from around the world to come together and share their experiences and knowledge in the latest techniques that relate to the LGBT community."

The program was assembled by CME experts CongressWorld and includes presenters from across Canada, many with international experience. Attendees will be able to choose from a range of topics including:

• consequences of HIV therapy;
• menopausal screening for lesbians;
• club drugs and sexuality; and
• advancements in cosmetic surgery.

In addition, Dr. Haneef Alibhai - a renowned cosmetic physician – will speak about 'Recent Advancements in Aesthetic Medicine'. Dr. Alibhai will discuss the most widely performed and sought after non-invasive facial rejuvenation procedures.

The CME program runs from February 5-7, 2007, at the TELUS Whistler Conference Center.

WinterPRIDE is the evolution of Gay Ski Week and has grown to a week-long festival which contains a broad range of activities beyond traditional winter sports events. WinterPRIDE includes daily ski-guiding by volunteers, après ski and party events, and culinary, health and education programming. WinterPRIDE 2007 takes place in Whistler BC from February 4-11, 2007.
