You’ve probably heard it all before: December is the best month, no wait, March is always amazing…can’t forget about August, it’s incredible. To eliminate any uncertainty, we’re going to set the record straight once and for all, May in Whistler is the best. Why you ask? It’s the month of all the sports. Just in case you need a little more convincing about why May is the best month to be in Whistler, here you go!

You Can Still Ski!

May is when spring skiing is at its all-time best. The slopes are slushy and the sun beams down, making it ideal to opt for a t-shirt and shorts instead of bulky outerwear. It’s also a time to work on that goggle tan. You’ll need it to wear it with pride after the ski season comes to a close!

Closing Day: May 21st

And You Can Bike!

As the weather heats up, the snow melts giving way to Whistler’s sought after trail networks. It’s fairly standard to be able to find all-mountain trails open as soon as late April and the spring months feature some of the best biking conditions of the year. But what really makes May special is the opening of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park.

Opening Day: May 18th

Did We Mention Golf Too?

There’s Also Hiking!

Some of the hiking trails can open as early as March depending on where they are situated and the snowpack. By May, many of the popular local trails such as the Train Wreck Hike, Lost Lake, and Rainbow Falls are all snow-free and open to the public. Be wary, it is advisable to plan and pack for early season conditions.

Opening Day: When the snow melts!

And If The Weathers Warm, Swimming!

Here in Whistler, we don’t let the month or the date define when swimming is acceptable. It’s only a matter of how cold or warm you like the lake to be. That being said, as the month of May progresses and the temperatures rise, you’ll see more and more swimmers taking the plunge.

Opening Day: When the weather permits… sooner for those that can brave the chilly waters!

May is an incredible time to be in Whistler but who are we kidding, every month is special when you’re in the mountains. Make sure the cherry on top of your Whistler experience is a stay at the Adara Hotel!
