The summer isn’t over yet, in fact, August is full of events to see the season out with a bang! The hot and sunny weather makes next month prime for spending time in the mountains. From festivals to races, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Buckle up and get ready for a jammed packed month of fun!
Whistler Farmer’s Market- Every Sunday and Wednesday
Located in the upper village, the Whistler Farmer’s Market takes place every Sunday and Wednesday evening. It features produce, tasty food, artisans, live entertainment and family activities. Everything must follow made in BC guidelines which means that all proceeds support locals!
Wanderlust- August 3 – August 6
On the first weekend of August, yoga and music come together in the mountains for the annual Wanderlust Festival. This festival sees Yogis from around the globe come to together in workshops, concerts, discussions and dancing!
Red bull 400- August 5
The steepest 400m race in the world is held at the Whistler Olympic Park. This is a unique race that sees athletes run from the bottom to the top of the ski jump with a challenging 400 vertical meters of elevation gain.
21st Annual Building Competition With Lego Bricks- August 5
Open to children under 15 years of age, participants are given lego bricks and a set amount of time to create something following a specific heme. After that time is up, the judges will choose the top three children from each age group to win special prizes!
Outdoor Concert Series- Frequent Dates
All throughout the summer, Whistler Olympic Plaza holds free outdoor concerts! So grab a blanket, a snack and get ready for music in the mountains!
Bulleit Bourbon Canadian National BBQ Championships- August 4- August 6
The BBQ Championships takes place at Dusty’s Bar & BBQ in Whistler Creekside. Here, professional and amateur BBQ’ers compete against each other to take home the title. Enjoy family entertainment and sampling some of the best BBQ you will ever eat!
Crankworx- August 11- August 20
The ultimate summer festival and celebration of all things mountain bike. Over the course of ten days, athletes will race and push their abilities in a number of other events. To top it all off, you will find some of the best parties of the year!
Pemberton Slow Food Cycle- August 20
The Slow Food Cycle Sunday takes participants on a pedal-powered trip through Pemberton, the town that lies just north of Whistler. Along the way, a natural buffet procured right there in the Pemberton Meadows farmland can be enjoyed as well as meeting the local farmers!
