Whistler features two massive mountains. When you stand at the bottom, it’s hard to imagine what it would look like once your on top. Well, on top in the alpine playground is precisely where you want to be and where some of the most exciting adventures take place. Hiking, climbing, and mountain biking all happen here in the unique alpine landscape and surrounded by spectacular views. This journey starts not at the bottom, but once you’re at the top- here are 5 summer alpine adventures you just have to try!

Peak 2 Peak Gondola

This gondola isn’t just any ol’ gondola. It holds a few world records- the first lift to join the two side-by-side mountains, the longest free span between ropeway towers and highest lift above the ground. Aside from boasting some impressive statistics, the Peak 2 Peak Gondola is an experience unto itself. From inside, you will be able to look out on to all of Whistler!

Via Ferrata

Did you know that Via Ferrata means “Iron Way” in Italian? Using a special lanyard system, secure yourself to steel cables and climb to the top of Whistler Peak. Take in the valley below from the top and other exhilarating panoramic views. No special skills or prior experience is required to do this activity.

Hiking

With a sightseeing ticket, you can easily cut out a fair share, about 1,500m, of hiking to access the goods- the alpine views. Once you arrive at the Roundhouse, there is a vast network of alpine hiking trails. Choose from the easy Peak Express Traverse or go for something more challenging like the Harmony Lake Trail and Loop.

Mountain Biking

Experience a 5,000 vertical feet descent as you drop in from the Peak on Whistler Mountain. This single track is set against a stunning back drop of the valley and surrounding coastal mountains. You won’t be disappointed. Accessing this zone requires an additional ticket that should be purchased early since the sensitivity of the trail limits the Peak Zone to 150 riders per day.

Mountain Top Dining

An adventure of the culinary kind, ride up the Whistler Gondola to then enjoy dining on a scenic patio. Tasty food, salads, decadent desserts are all waiting to be devoured. This dining experience is only held every Friday, Saturday, Sunday night.

Whistler is loaded with adventure from the bottom right up to the top but there is something special about what goes on in the alpine. Spectacular views and undeniable fun await you! Once you have experienced what the heavens of Whistler have to offer, come back down to earth and rest your head at the Adara!
