You don’t just earn the title of North America’s Number One Resort by chance! Each year, winter and summer enthusiasts alike trek to Whistler to experience all that it has to offer. Some come for the endless outdoor activities and others to spend time in the wild Pacific Northwest mountains. Regardless, there is more to the Whistler experience than meets the eye and together, it helps the resort maintain the top spot on most people’s must-visit list. Just what is it about this mountain town that makes it a dream destination?

There are two mountains.

Whistler Blackcomb actually refers to two separate mountains- Whistler Mountain and Blackcomb Mountain. Two mountains mean double the fun and access to 8,171 acres of terrain to play in!

It’s a wee drive from the airport!

Whistler is around 2 hours from the Vancouver airport. Don’t worry, the drive is magical. The Sea To Sky Highway that links Vancouver to Whistler is filled with breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding mountain ranges.

Après, après, après!

You may have come to Whistler to ski but honey, it’s all about the après! We know how to throw a good party that runs from midday till the early hours of the morning; So be prepared to dance in your ski boots and maybe even sleep in them!

You can walk almost everywhere!

Once you are in town, your feet can be your main mode of transportation, in fact, the village is pedestrian only. What’s more, there is the Valley Trail, a paved multi-use trail, that links Function Junction all the way to Green Lake!

We’re laid back.

Flannel. It could very well be the only piece of clothing you need in your suitcase. This lumberjack inspired print can take you from après to dinner and then out on the town! And it’s not only reserved for the gentlemen- ladies look good in flannel too!

You don’t have to ski.

Ziptrek, bobsled, cross-country skiing, dog sledding, hiking, and snowmobiling are just a few of the activities that can fill your time while in Whistler, making it just as much for someone choosing not to spend time on the hill as someone who is.

Art, craft beer, and a delicious coffee!

Whistler is oozing with mountain culture. Art galleries, local craft beer and some of the most delicious coffee you have ever tasted can all be found right in the village.

Speaking of which, we are a foodie’s heaven!

Ski well and eat well when in Whistler. Chefs from all over the world call Whistler home and for that matter, mouth-watering menus exist all throughout town.

There is a world of adventure right outside the resort!

There is enough to fill your senses right in the village but if you are looking for even more, just step right outside of its boundaries. Brandywine Falls, Rainbow Falls, Alta Lake and more are a few of the local sights to see.

World records? We’ve got those too!

When you get into town, look up. The Peak 2 Peak Gondola holds the world record for the highest cable car above ground and the longest unsupported span between two cable car towers.

With these 10 things, it’s easy to see why Whistler is your winter and summer dream destination. Come stay at our boutique ski hotel and add another to say “wow” on your vacation in Whistler!
